Sick Day

Joe is home sick today. He has a runny nose and a cough. Most of his friends in his class have been out sick this week so we decided to keep him home today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he can go to school tomorrow. He is scheduled to participate in basketball for young athletes through Special Olympics on Friday. It is at IM West on the MSU campus. I am planning to volunteer and Joe's sitters Liz & Julie are also planning to volunteer. He doesn't look very sick to me in these photos. They're blurry because he was hopping around while I tried to get a good shot.

My day in London

I spent the day walking the streets of London seeing the sites. I am staying a few blocks away from the British Museum so I went early in the morning and again (with my camera) at the end on the afternoon. I was impressed by the Elgin marble and the Rosetta Stone. My favorite place was Westminster Abbey, I stayed longer than I had planned and so had to skip crossing the Millennium Bridge and visiting the Tate. Tomorrow I fly home.

English Pub

Well, after a long red eye flight, many trains, and a taxi I made it to my destination in England. The seminar is going well and tonight we walked down the road to a pub. Here I am looking a bit jet lagged. I drank a pint of local beer and now I am ready for bed.

Joe has begun his spring semester swim class at MSU. This semester Joe will be swimming with MSU kinesiology major Mike. The class went well today and Joe loved being back in the pool. We are hoping that he develops stronger swimming skills so he can be more independent this summer.

Hometown Hero

Check out this GREAT video of an inspiring basketball player from Rochester, NY. More evidence of what people can do if given the chance. The news story is a couple of years old, but I just saw it for the first time today.
