White House Chief also uses R-word
Disability Scoop posted an article about the White House Chief of Staff R. Emanuel's blurt to the Wall Street Journal (said in August but reported this week) describing an idea (using negative ads) as "F****g retarded." Ummm....I feel like I am fighting an uphill battle. Amy, you're not alone. There are so many of us in it together and we will keep fighting to erase the R-word. We will. There are corners in this world, where parents, like you and me, are speaking up and saying that it is not enough. We want to end the use of this word.
I was thinking of your last post and you know, the young generation is the best place to start. You're right in approaching Emma's principal and I hope you feel supported in doing so...
It's true Amy. People just don't think about the words they use. It's wrong and it's time they did. You are doing a great thing and you are right to call us all out on doing more to see change in this area.
